Inflation that continues to affect millions of Americans is not letting up, and low-income families are experiencing stressful times when it comes to covering basic needs such as food, housing and child care.

To ease this burden, Sacramento County launched the Family Economic Pilot Program (FFESP), which offers eligible families a benefit of $725 dollars per month, providing consistent financial relief.

The FFESP prioritizes households with young children, especially those from African American and Native American communities, by offering a stable monthly income to help them cover essential expenses.

This program is more than just financial : it's about reducing stress and allowing families to focus on raising their children without the constant worry of making ends meet.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, several stimulus programs emerged to ease the financial burden on low-income families, and to date several of these programs continue as an essential tool to reduce economic and social inequalities in marginalized communities.

The FFESP stands out for its direct focus on improving the living conditions of families living in the California state capital, especially those facing hardship due to poverty in the state of California.

How long can you receive financial assistance from the FFESP?

The FFESP can only be applied for by families living in specific zip codes in Sacramento.

These areas include the following postcodes:

  • 95821
  • 95825
  • 95838

By offering a monthly payment of $725, the program seeks to ease the financial burden on 200 randomly selected families, helping to cover basic needs such as food, rent and utilities, with no restrictions on how these funds can be used.

The 200 participants for the program in 2025 will be randomly selected between April and May, so that by mid-June payments will begin to be distributed to families who live below 200% of the federal poverty level, increasing access to those who really need it most.

It is worth mentioning that this program will families for only the next 12 months.
