Social Security benefits have seen a rise of 2.5% this year, and this adjustment has affected both the average payments and maximum benefit amounts. Now the average monthly payment for retired workers has gone up from $1,927 to $1,976.

In addition to the COLA increase, the maximum monthly retirement benefit for Social Security varies depending on the age at which someone begins claiming benefits. At age 62, a person can claim up to $2,831. By contrast, this is $5,108 for someone aged 70.

Who Will Receive a $2,000 Payment on February 3?
