More than three decades after being convicted of murdering their parents, Erik and Lyle Menendez have come forward with chilling s of the violence and torment they endured behind bars.

The brothers, who have spent the last 34 years serving life sentences without parole, claim they were frequent targets of physical attacks and intimidation during their early years in prison.

Now 54 and 57 years old, respectively, Erik and Lyle remain incarcerated at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in Otay Mesa, California.

While they are currently housed in the same cell block, the brothers spent 21 years at separate institutions, making their prison experience even more isolating and dangerous.

Erik recently opened up about his traumatic time behind bars, revealing how he was bullied, beaten, and lived in constant fear of violence.

"Prison was hard for me. I faced a lot of bullying and trauma. It was a dangerous environment. I was picked on, bullied violently, and it was traumatic and it was continual," he said according to RadarOnline.com.

Brutal attacks and years of isolation

The younger Menendez brother recounted one particularly painful moment when he was informed that his brother Lyle had been attacked at another facility.

"I was told, 'Lyle just got assaulted and got his jaw broken.' I'm thinking, 'He's over there, I'm going through this over here, and at least we could protect each other maybe if we were together,' but we were not even allowed to be together," he said.

While Lyle suffered serious injuries from the assault, Erik faced his own relentless threats but made a conscious decision not to retaliate.

"I'm not gonna fight back, I'm not going to engage," Erik recalled.

"I had no one really to turn to for help, and I was separated from Lyle."

Despite their claims of enduring violence behind bars, the Menendez brothers remain focused on their ongoing legal battle, continuing to fight for a resentencing that could lead to their release.
