What a week for Elon Musk, the entrepreneur made headlines around the world. The owner of X and Tesla was present at Donald Trump's inauguration and caused quite a stir.

When he stepped up to the microphone to address the guests and began to thank the Republicans for allowing Trump to return to the presidency of the United States, he made a greeting that the media quickly identified as "Nazi".

Elon Musk hasn't gone into much detail about the idea of making this gesture, but he has defended himself and attacked the media for spreading the news.

"Traditional media is pure propaganda. Now you are the media," was one of his most recent posts on the subject on his X .

Joe Rogan comes to his defense and explains the salute

The UFC commentator and host of "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast asked people to do a little more research on U.S. history, as Elon Musk's salute was not a "Nazi" gesture, but a gesture used by Americans when they took the Pledge of Allegiance.

"Well, he's saying, 'My heart goes out to you. But that's how the Nazis did it... This is what I found out last night. That's also how they used to do the Pledge of Allegiance," Joe Rogan commented on his latest podcast episode.

He also explained that changes were made with the arrival of the Nazis: "The Pledge of Allegiance used to be done like this until the Nazis came along. Then we switched it to this your hand over your heart. So we cut out that part," said Joe Rogan, trying to put an end to the controversy.

Well, it will certainly take a while for this to die down, as a very intense debate has been generated on social networks and in the media. The reality is that the interpretation varies widely, some consider it a misunderstanding and others as a "Nazi" gesture, while people close to Joe Rogan point out that it is the Pledge of Allegiance from several years ago.

The controversy does not seem to end soon, but Elon Musk has been very clear in pointing to traditional media as the culprits of this strong interpretation of his salute, the truth is that the new era in the United States has just begun.
