Thanksgiving weekend is fast approaching, and the traditions are widespread across the country: pumpkin pie, turkey, football and the traditional annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

While this year marks the centenary of this traditional celebration, it will not be its 100th edition, as after its founding in 1924, the parade was not held in 1942, 1943 and 1944 because of World War II.

The current route begins on Manhattan's Upper West Side and ends at Macy's flagship store in Herald Square in New York.

According to NBC, which is in charge of broadcasting the event this year, attendees will be able to see the parade of 22 floats, 17 character balloons and 15 traditional balloons. In addition, more than 700 clowns will participate and there will be several music stars along with 11 bands and 10 dance groups, directed by the renowned choreographer, who put together the show that will feature Tom Turkey and Santa Claus, as well as three outstanding floats.

"The programming for the 98th Macy's Parade ensures that there will be something for everyone during this iconic Thanksgiving celebration," says Macy's of the 2024 parade.
