Start Times and Schedule

With over 50,000 participants across different skill levels, the marathon features staggered start times to reduce congestion along the 26.2-mile route:

  • Professional Wheelchair Division: 8:00 a.m. EST
  • Professional Women's Open Division: 8:40 a.m. EST
  • Professional Men's Open Division & General Public Start: 9:05 a.m. EST

These staggered start times are designed to create a smooth experience, enabling elite and amateur runners to enjoy their race without overcrowding.

NYC Marathon Course Overview

Starting in Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island, the course covers all five boroughs of New York City, offering both participants and spectators a unique journey through iconic neighborhoods.

Runners begin by crossing the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge into Brooklyn, where they continue up to Queens, before crossing into Manhattan and heading briefly into the Bronx.
