The 2024 edition promises to be an excellent spectacle and it is a tournament that has been running since way back in 1935.
Last year's edition was won by Juliette Valle, who went on to finish 11th at the Miss America pageant. The Miss Florida Teen winner was Anne-Katherine Risalvato.
What does the winner of Miss Florida get?
The winner of Miss Florida USA earns the official crown and sash, an evening gown for the Miss USA evening gown competition, and a LEAP conference scholarship.
Among the prizes the titleholder gets are also cosmetic lessons, a beauty gift basket, a dental and fitness package, a skincare collection, and more.
How do you qualify for Miss America?
As stated by the Miss Florida website, this is how you can qualify for the pageant in the future:
- For Miss America - birth years 1996 - 2006
- For Miss America's Teen - birth years 2006 - 2010
- Be a United States citizen
- Be a female
- Single
- No legal dependents
- Meet residency requirements for competing in your city or state.
There has been a greater need in recent years for these competitions to recognise diversity and promote competitors from less conventional backgrounds.
On the Miss Florida website, they say: "The Miss Florida Scholarship Program recognizes the importance and immense value of diversity, from our candidates, sponsors, and volunteers. We value the gifts and ideals of all young women and celebrate their contributions to our organization and the world at large."
