Prince Harry is catching serious heat after flying into a Ukrainian war zone-just hours after arguing in a UK court that he needs taxpayer-funded police protection because Britain is too dangerous for him and his wife Meghan Markle.
Critics are calling the Duke of Sussex's actions "absurd" and "hypocritical," pointing out the irony of his security concerns in the UK while voluntarily entering a country actively under siege by Russia.
"It's extraordinary that Prince Harry spent two days in court arguing he needs police protection and his life is in danger without it-yet he happily flies to Ukraine where he could be bombed at any moment," said royal expert Phil Dampier in a scathing takedown.
The Prince continues to fight for security in the UK
Harry, 40, is currently appealing a court decision that denied his request for government-funded protection during UK visits. He claims his family is not safe in Britain without the same level of security afforded to working royals.
Yet, in a dramatic twist, the Duke made a surprise visit to Lviv on Thursday, where he was photographed meeting wounded soldiers at the Superhumans Center, an orthopedic clinic that s injured military personnel and civilians. The trip was part of his continued work with veterans through the Invictus Games.
While Harry reportedly had security on the ground in Ukraine, critics aren't buying the contrast. "The idea his life is in danger in the UK when he has his own bodyguards is ridiculous," Dampier added, noting Harry's past military service, including flying helicopters in Afghanistan.
Meghan is behind Harry's lawsuit
Royal watchers also suspect Meghan Markle may be using the security issue as a pretext to avoid returning to the UK altogether. "She doesn't want to come back here because she knows how deeply unpopular she is," Dampier said.
With public backlash brewing and Harry's appeal still pending, many are questioning whether the prince can really have it both ways-claiming he's unsafe in London while making high-profile appearances in a literal war zone.
