Meghan Markle's unexpected presence at a charity event in 2024 has led to claims of disruption from Dr. Sophie Chandauka, the chair of Prince Harry's charity, Sentebale.

According to Chandauka, the Duchess of Sussex caused confusion and an awkward interaction on stage, which became the subject of media attention.

Meghan had initially informed organizers that she would not attend the Royal Salute Polo Challenge in Florida. However, she showed up unexpectedly with tennis star Serena Williams. Dr. Chandauka, who was on stage with Prince Harry, described how the situation quickly became chaotic.

Meghan allegedly asked Chandauka twice to move away from Harry, who had his arm around his wife, to a different spot on stage. This led to awkward shuffling among others, with Chandauka having to duck under a trophy to stand where Meghan requested.

In an interview with Sky News, Dr. Chandauka shared her thoughts on the incident: "We would have been really excited had we known ahead of time [Meghan was coming], but we didn't.

The choreography went badly on stage because we had too many people on stage. The international press captured this, and there was a lot of talk about the Duchess and the choreography on stage and whether she should have been there and her treatment of me."

Tension between Dr. Chandauka and the Sussexes

The charity chair also revealed that after the event, Prince Harry requested that she issue a statement in of Meghan, but Dr. Chandauka refused. She explained, "Not because I didn't care about the Duchess, but because I knew what would happen if I did so, number one. And number two, because we cannot be an extension of the Sussexes."

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams weighed in on the situation, noting that Meghan's unanticipated appearance caused confusion, and the interaction on stage was "awkward." Fitzwilliams also remarked that the ongoing issues within the Sentebale charity could be damaging to Prince Harry, who co-founded the charity in memory of his late mother, Princess Diana.

Dr. Chandauka went on to accuse Prince Harry's brand of being "toxic," claiming that it negatively impacted the functioning of Sentebale. She also alleged that Harry was involved in covering up an investigation related to bullying, harassment, and misogyny within the charity. These accusations, Dr. Chandauka stated, had contributed to a toxic atmosphere at Sentebale.

In a bold statement, Dr. Chandauka added, "The team is resolved that Sentebale will live on, with or without you," signaling that the charity could move forward even without Harry's involvement. A source close to former Sentebale trustees dismissed these claims as "completely baseless."
