Meghan Markle recently made a touching tribute to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, by wearing a purple Northwestern University sweatshirt, which Prince Harry's mother had been spotted in during her final years.
The Duchess of Sussex's outfit was shared via her Instagram Stories as she offered a glimpse into her weekend routine and bore special significance, as it was the same piece Princess Diana wore during her visit to the university in 1996, a years before Meghan and Harry crossed paths.
The sweatshirt itself dates back to Princess Diana's visit to Northwestern in June 1996, when she toured the Chicago area, meeting with students and stopping by a local hospital as she continued to prove herself a woman of the people.
Diana was photographed later wearing the sweatshirt, paired with white biker shorts and sneakers, outside the Chelsea Harbour Club in London. This sighting of the beloved princess sparked a connection to Meghan's own college memories, adding further sentiment.
In addition to the heartfelt nod to Princess Diana, Meghan's Instagram Stories also showcased a sweet moment with her children. The Duchess shared a playful interaction with Archie, who offered to take the hose from his mother, capturing the warmth and closeness of their family life.
The 43-year-old's respite comes ahead of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan. The trailer for the series, which will premiere on March 4, features Meghan engaging in various activities, from cooking in a kitchen to arranging flowers.
What did Markle do at Northwestern?
