Actor Francisco San Martin, one of the stars of "Days Of Our Lives", was found dead at his home at the age of 39, Page Six reported.
The actor who played the characters Dario Hernandez and Javier Rodriguez in the NBC soap opera was reported dead at the scene when his body was discovered.
The cause of the actor's death
The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office confirmed Monday that the cause of death was suicide by hanging, Deadline reported.
One of San Martin's former co-stars issued a statement mourning the loss.
"Pepe, what can I say, but I love you and rest in peace, my friend," wrote Camila Banus via Instagram. "I love you very, very much."
The 34-year-old actress, who played the sister of San Martin's character Gabi Hernandez, concluded: "I wish I would have told them more."
Who was Francisco San Martin?
She found her first experience in acting in children's theater shows before moving into the modeling world, until she came to "Days Of Our Lives".
San Martin appeared in 59 episodes of the show between 2010 and 2011, and later played a gardener named Mateo in "The Bold and the Beautiful" for 16 episodes in 2017.
That same year, San Martin served as the estate manager Fabian Regalo del Cielo in seven episodes of "Jane the Virgin".
He also had a role in the 2013 film "Behind the Candelabra", starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon.
San Martin was born in Mallorca, Spain, on August 27, 1985, and first appeared in the series as a petty thief, although it was soon revealed that he came to Salem to investigate an unsolved case.
Later, his character moved to Argentina after a job promotion, and Hernandez was later played by Jordi Vilasuso between 2016 and 2017.
San Martin grew up in Montana, and moved to Madrid as a teenager to pursue a career as an actor.
