Garth Brooks is one of the most iconic figures in country music, known for his larger-than-life performances and a career filled with chart-topping hits. From classics like Friends in Low Places to heartfelt ballads such as The Dance, Brooks has built an empire over several decades, becoming a household name not only in country music but across all genres. With numerous awards, including two Grammy Awards and a record nine Diamond-certified albums, his success is unparalleled.

He's also celebrated for his down-to-earth persona and deep connection with his fans, often referred to as the "Garth Army." Brooks has maintained a relatively scandal-free public image, further endearing him to his millions of loyal followers.

But recent allegations are threatening to cast a shadow over that reputation. On Thursday, Brooks was hit with a serious lawsuit, filed by a woman identified as Jane Roe. The woman, who worked as a makeup artist for Brooks' wife, Trisha Yearwood, alleges that Brooks subjected her to unwanted sexual advances and ultimately raped her in 2019.

The lawsuit claims that the traumatic experience left her contemplating suicide. "Brooks is desperate to prevent his millions of fans from learning about the horrific things he has said and done," the suit reads, laying out a series of disturbing accusations against the country music star.

Brooks denies rape allegations

The woman claims that Brooks' inappropriate behavior started in 2017 when she began working for him more frequently, and worsened over time. She alleges that on multiple occasions, Brooks exposed himself, sent her lewd text messages, and pressured her to engage in sexual activities.

One of the most alarming incidents, according to the lawsuit, occurred at Brooks' home, where he allegedly emerged from the shower naked and demanded that she touch him. The woman continued working for Brooks despite these incidents, but in May 2019, she claims Brooks raped her in a Los Angeles hotel room during a Grammy tribute trip.

In response to the accusations, Brooks filed a preemptive lawsuit last month, accusing the woman of extortion. He claims that she threatened to ruin his reputation unless he paid her millions. Brooks, referred to as "John Doe" in his lawsuit, categorically denies all allegations, describing them as false and malicious.

The woman's attorney, Douglas Wigdor, a prominent lawyer in #MeToo cases, praised his client's courage in filing the lawsuit. "We are confident that Brooks will be held able for his actions," Wigdor stated, emphasizing that sexual predators exist in every industry, even in country music. The legal battle is just beginning, and with such serious accusations, all eyes are on how this will unfold for the country music legend.
