Dennis Quaid, the celebrated actor best known for his role in the recent film Reagan, took the stage at a Donald Trump rally in Coachella, California, and delivered a speech that struck a chord with many in attendance. In a rare move for a Hollywood figure, Quaid spoke ionately about the election, encouraging Americans to take an active role in shaping the nation's future.

Quaid wasted no time addressing the stakes of the election, urging people make decisive choices about the country's direction. Drawing an interesting parallel between the current political climate and Ronald Reagan's 1980 election, Quaid compared the challenges faced by Reagan with those being navigated today.

"I'm here today to tell you, that it's time to pick a side," he said.

"Are we going to be a nation that stands for the Constitution, or for TikTok? Are we going to be a nation of law and order or wide open borders? Which is it? Because it's time to pick a side.

"It's amazing how the issues the 1980 election are very similar to what they are today. Those of you of a certain age here probably the inflation we had going on back then. 20 percent interest on a bank loan, Iran hostages, we were a nation in decline - that's what they told us. Ronald Reagan came along and he said, 'No! We are not a nation in decline, we are going there'. And we followed him."

While Quaid has often expressed iration for Reagan, calling him his favorite president of the 20th century, he made it clear that Donald Trump is his choice for the 21st century.

Although Quaid has identified as an Independent in the past, his stance has evolved. In a May interview with Piers Morgan, Quaid revealed that Trump's legal battles influenced his decision to the former president in this election cycle.

"People might call him an a**hole. But he's my a**hole," he said at the time.
