A member of the production team for the latest 'Superman' film has tragically died at Trilith Studios in Atlanta.

The incident occurred on the morning of Wednesday, July 24, when the Fayetteville Police Department received a report of an unconscious crew member at the studios.

Law enforcement officers and medical personnel were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the individual deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Deadline.

The woman was working on the set directed by James Gunn, though her specific role has not been disclosed prior to her death.

Statements from Law Enforcement

Fayetteville Police Department Captain Austin Dunn stated that the possibility of a crime has been ruled out.

"The evidence collected did not reveal any suspicion of a possible crime," Dunn said.

"There are no further details that we can provide at this time, as the investigation is in its early stages.

"More information will be released when appropriate."

It remains unclear whether the incident was a case of suicide or an accident.

Filming temporarily suspended

Director James Gunn informed the rest of the crew about the incident, leading to the suspension of filming for the day.

Production is expected to resume on Thursday. The 'Superman' film is in its final week of shooting and is slated for release in 2025, assuming no further delays occur.

This isn't the first example of a gun-based incident on the set of a Hollywood film in recent months.

Whilst the circumstances are dramatically different, there was the tragic case involving Alec Baldwin on the set of 'Rust' in which he unknowingly discharged a loaded pistol which killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
