The regeneration of taste buds takes place between 10 days and two weeks, although this process decreases with age

Another consequence of aging is that taste buds are lost, which usually reduces sensitivity to flavors. In addition, those that remain usually decrease in size, mainly after the age of 60

For these reasons, people often experience changes in taste perception. This is why many times, when we grow up, we like foods that we did not like before or vice versa. It is also important to bear in mind that loss of taste can be related to various factors such as diseases, medications, oral problems or nutritional deficiencies.
