The dramatic story of Louise Glover, from a life of luxury in the Playboy mansion to living in a tent
Actualizado

In 2006, she touched the horns of the moon and lived one of the greatest experiences of her life as a model by being on the cover of Playboy magazine, which brought her a relaxed and luxurious lifestyle, but today British model Louise Glover has experienced the other side of the coin, the one that a large majority of UK residents suffer from day to day.

The cost of living crisis in her home country has triggered a series of events in Glover's life that led her to make the decision to live in a tent, as she was unable to afford the rent of a room in a shared house when it skyrocketed from $590 to $800 a month.

Life as a model for the 42-year-old Briton reached its peak when she met Hugh Hefner in 2004, which led her to appear in January 2006 in Playboy Vixens magazine, in the special illustrated edition "The 100 Sexiest Playboy Models" and to win the Model of the Year award from Playboy Special Editions. The following year she was 'Pet of the Month' for Penthouse in the UK, appeared in the US edition of Playboy and on the cover of the French edition, events that led her to live in Hefner's Mansion in California.

From the cover of Playboy to opening a GoFundMe

From that glamorous life full of glamour, Louise Glover went to live in a $65 tent and look for work and not find it, so her desperation opened a GoFundMe in the hope of raising $10,000 to buy a houseboat: "I want something dry, safe and simple; the boat doesn't have to be perfect, just functional. For someone like me, a boat offers stability, an affordable and realistic long-term housing solution. It gives me independence, security and the opportunity to finally breathe. I will have a roof over my head, a door that I can lock and a space of my own," said the former model explaining her needs.

"I survived the winter in a broken system"

Glover wants to work as a personal trainer and even as a dog walker once she settles down in one place and leaves her nomadic life behind. She recently posted on Instagram about how she feels about her 'homeless' life: "Homeless and I survived the winter. I'm not ashamed to be vulnerable or homeless it has all had a huge impact on my mental health, but also a clear understanding of reality. If it wasn't for the care of my dogs and the comfort I get from them, I honestly don't know where I would be... I survived the winter, I'm very proud of myself (...) I've been to the town hall and the Windsor homeless project several times and they just gave me phone numbers, a blanket and wished me luck... the system is broken and I have no choice but to sort it out myself. I'm still strong."
