Ben Affleck found the perfect way to teach his 13-year-old son Samuel the value of money, and it all happened thanks to a pair of luxury sneakers with a price tag that surprised the "Batman" actor himself, as the cost is $6,000.

During an interview with Access Hollywood at the SXSW event, the American actor shared a funny anecdote about how Samuel was getting obsessed with a pair of Dior Air Jordan 1, limited edition sneakers released in 2020, and the way he took that whim away from him.

And that's because Ben came up with the idea of asking his son Samuel to mow the lawn to save the $6,000 that the sneakers cost.

However, Samuel was apparently not very willing to do chores to get the money needed to buy them, so Affleck had an idea to make him see reality, Page Six reported.

"That's what happens when you tell a kid they have to cut the grass. Suddenly, they don't want those shoes anymore," Ben joked, laughing about his son's attempt to avoid simple chores, like mowing the lawn, just so he could get the expensive sneakers.

"You're in trouble," Ben Affleck told his son Samuel

Affleck did not hesitate to set things straight with his teenage son: "I told him, 'You don't need $1,000 shoes'."

And Samuel replied: "We have the money". But the actor, with his characteristic humor, replied: "I have the money, you're broke".

In a video recorded at the Got Sole convention, where both father and son were enjoying the sneaker exhibition, Ben pointed out ironically: "You like them because they're expensive," while Samuel insisted that the Dior Air Jordan 1 were "sturdy" and, of course, "looked good."

Despite the jokes, it seems that Samuel learned a valuable lesson. Although it is unclear whether the father-son duo did or did not buy the expensive sneakers, Affleck made it clear that the value of work and responsibility is more important than any luxury item.

Ben Affleck, who has an estimated net worth of $150 million, is the father of three children: Samuel, Violet (19) and Seraphina (16), with his ex-wife, actress Jennifer Garner

And although the relationship with the actress is still cordial, sources close to the actor say that Affleck would be willing to give his ex another romantic chance.

For now, Ben remains a doting father, using his humor and focus on hard work to teach his children life's lessons.
