Ben Affleck is distancing himself from Jennifer Lopez following her recent social media posts that seem to hint at their past relationship.
It is becoming clear that the actor is growing increasingly frustrated with his ex-wife after she posted a cryptic message on Instagram, fueling more tension between the two.
The latest strain on Affleck and Lopez's relationship came after Lopez shared a Valentine's Day message on Instagram.
"Self-love don't cost a thing," Lopez posted.
While Lopez didn't directly reference anyone, many of her followers speculated that the post was aimed at Affleck. According to sources close to Affleck, the subtle dig has not gone unnoticed.
"Ben's really trying to be the understanding ex, but come on... J.Lo is a total celebrity, and he knows the pressure's on for her to spill some tea about their relationship eventually," an insider told RadarOnline.
"But what really grinds his gears? It's those sneaky little social media posts of hers that seem to just dangle hints about their old romance, knowing full well that everyone's gonna jump to conclusions and connect the dots back to him."
Affleck's frustration and withdrawal
Affleck, 52, has reportedly grown tired of Lopez's cryptic behavior, especially her insistence that her posts are not intended to make waves.
"It's super annoying because she doesn't even mention his name outright, insisting it wasn't her intention to make waves. But that doesn't fly with him-he's seriously over it," the insider continued.
In fact, sources reveal that Affleck has been pulling away from Lopez, "dodging her messages" and keeping their interactions to a minimum.
"Ben knows she thrives on validation, and guess what? She's not getting it from him anymore," the source added.
While Affleck has grown frustrated with Lopez, he has been leaning on his first ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, more than ever. Since finalizing his divorce from Lopez earlier in February, Affleck has been spending significant time with Garner and their three children: Violet, 19, Fin, 16, and Samuel, 13. Despite their separation after 13 years of marriage, the two have remained friendly, and Affleck has even been seen celebrating holidays with Garner and their kids.
An insider revealed that Affleck may still have feelings for Garner.
"He never really got over the end of his first marriage. Jen gets him like no one else, and as the mother of his three kids, she'll always be on a pedestal for Ben. He'll never stop having regrets that he let her walk away."
