Minnesota Timberwolves' Anthony Edwards showed no subtlety when he asked former-New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez how he messed up his relationship with the popular singer, Jennifer Lopez.

Rodriguez and Lopez dated from 2017 to 2021 and the couple were engaged in 2019. In their break-up statement, the pair said that they were better as friends, with media predicting that the covid-19 pandemic took a toll on the relationship.

Many people would have wondered how Rodriguez, who hit 696 career home runs, managed to strike out with Lopez including Anthony Edwards.

Rodriguez, who is now a part-owner of the Timberwolves franchise, hasn't left Edwards starstruck with the NBA player not even knowing he was a World Series champion. Edwards didn't mince his words, bluntly asking his boss how managed to mess it up.

"Ant [Edwards] got comfortable with him [Rodriguez]," Craig Kilborn said to The Dane Moore NBA Podcast. "So he called over A Rod and he said, 'I've got to ask you something, how did you screw up JLo?'"

Timberwolves' aims for 2023/24

Last season, the Timberwolves finished 8th in the Western Conference and qualified for the post-season with a .512 record and recorded their first consecutive winning seasons for the first time since 2004 and 2005, marking a step forwards for the franchise.

However, they would be eliminated in the first round of the play-offs by the eventual champions, the Denver Nuggets.

In the off-season, the team signed Anthony Edwards to a five-year 260m dollar contract securing one of NBA's brightest talents for several years to come.

The team also re-signed Nax Reid and Nickeil Alexander-Walker, whilst adding Leonard Miller, Troy Brown Jr and Shake Milton.

The team bids to be more competitive in 2023/24 by improving on their 42 victories last season and to go beyond the first round of the NBA play-offs for the first time since 2003/04 when they made the Conference Finals.
