Jeremy Renner, who plays "Hawkeye" in the Avengers franchise, was involved in a life-threatening accident on January 1st. Renner had broken more than 30 bones and suffered orthopedic injuries and blunt chest trauma trying to save his nephew who was stuck in a snowdrift.
Recently, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans visited him in Los Angeles. Johansson, who has worked with Renner in several Marvel movies, shared that she was "fucking happy" to see him, and "to not only see him again but to see him thriving and in such an amazing space, mentally. He's a very spiritual person in general and a very soulful person. And you can see that in his work. It comes through. He has such a depth to him. And I just was so happy to see that he is full of life and light, and he's also hilarious. We laughed a lot."
Evans also ed the reunion, and he said that there were "no tears at all. A lot of laughs and smiles and hugs," he added. "Leave it to Jeremy to take something this potentially tragic and turn it into something so inspiring."
Johansson was upset when she heard about Renner's accident while she was shooting the Apple movie "Project Artemis." But Renner's condition quickly improved, and his fellow Avengers began joking with him. "On the Avengers text chain, we're like, 'OK, you beat us all. That's it. You won.' That's like real superhero stuff. It's unbelievable," Johansson said.
Renner has had a great recovery
Renner's recovery has progressed so dramatically that he was able to celebrate the recent premiere of his Disney+ series "Rennervations" in person. He also posted an Instagram video of him exercising and taking "the new parts for a tiny test drive." Johansson, who stars in the Wes Anderson film "Asteroid City," reflects on her 30-year career and the eight Marvel movies she has appeared in.
Renner's resilience and the he has received from his colleagues demonstrate the close bond among the Avengers cast. It's always heartwarming to see actors who have worked together for so long and have become close friends each other in tough times.
