Once again, Max Verstappen was the clear protagonist of the F1 World Championship. The Dutchman won his fourth consecutive title in 2024, and although he was not able to enjoy the advantage of previous years, he continued to shine with performances that few can match. One of these victories that tasted like a title was in Brazil, where the Red Bull driver amazed everyone with an unbeatable drive in the rain.
After that race, the Red Bull driver has resisted on several occasions to confirm that this had been his best test of all those he has completed in his career in the Grand Circus. Whether or not it is the best, it enters the debate without a doubt, and also adds more value if we that this beautiful story began in the worst possible way. A month after the test in Sao Paulo, the Dutchman fondly re that day and has revealed everything he experienced in those 24 frantic hours that ended in the best possible way
Madness in Brazil
The weekend started with a fourth place finish for the champion in the sprint, but then in qualifying, which was delayed until the same day as the race, things went awry for the Milton Keynes-based team. A crash in Q2 left Max in 12th position, which was to be relegated to 17th with a penalty. The driver has revealed the frustration in the garage after the session: "I saw a lot of sad faces because we were starting 17th, with our main rival on pole position, and it could be a key moment in that part of the championship."
Beyond the pity of his teammates, Verstappen also showed his frustration over the radio. Once he got out of the car, his anger did not subside: "A lot of things went through my mind, because I was very disappointed with qualifying, I wanted to smash my room. I got there, and my father was sitting there, and he was calm, he's very calm, I was very angry and he was very calm." By the way it all ended it seems that this anger turned into motivation.
The rain was the protagonist on the Brazilian asphalt, and in these conditions that some may consider adverse, the '1' gave a blow on the table and showed his best version. "You can't know what will happen in those kind of conditions, because you can go off the circuit or spin, but as soon as the race started, it went well. I enjoyed it a lot, I felt good with the car, and, step by step, driving to the front," Max recalls with a smile from ear to ear. The title was sealed in Las Vegas, but his performance at Interlagos will go down in history. He went from being furious and on the ropes, to being euphoric and with a victory coming from practically the back of the grid.
