Paul and Tyson are set to face off on Friday night in Texas

Jake Paul leans on Mahomes to finish off Tyson

Jake Paul is gearing up for one of the biggest challenges of his career and a showdown with boxing legend Mike Tyson.

As the fight approaches, Paul has revealed a surprising source of motivation: Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Known for his unyielding focus and leadership on the field, Mahomes has become a role model for Paul as he prepares to step into the ring.

"It's cliché, but there's a reason he's the best," Paul said in an interview with PEOPLE. "He continues to win and continues to show up and be a leader."

For Paul, the 29-year-old quarterback's discipline and work ethic are qualities he strives to emulate.

"He really never has off days and his focus is something that I ire," Paul shared.

These traits have fueled the social media star-turned-boxer as he trains for the November 15 bout, which will be broadcast live on Netflix from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Paul has spared no effort in preparing for the match against Tyson, a 58-year-old former world champion known for his ferocity in the ring.

To simulate Tyson's unique fighting style, Paul's sparring partners have adopted movements designed to mirror those of the boxing icon.

"My sparring partners are basically mimicking exactly how Mike Tyson moves, which has been super, super helpful," Paul explained. "And I think it's going to be a great night for me."

Turning Defeat into Determination

Paul's path to this moment hasn't been without setbacks. Earlier this year, he suffered his first professional loss to Tommy Fury, an experience he initially found devastating.

However, the defeat became a turning point for Paul, enabling him to reassess his approach and refocus his energy.

"I saw the people around me that weren't there for the right reasons, and I was able to filter them out," Paul said. Rather than stepping back, Paul intensified his commitment to the sport, assembling a stronger team and honing his skills.

Paul's professional record stands at 10-1, and he remains determined to prove his critics wrong.

"I think a lot of people would react to the loss and be like, 'Oh, maybe I'm done with this,'" Paul reflected. "But it's like, no, let's lean in even more... take the sport even more seriously."

As the fight draws near, Paul is channeling Mahomes' championship mentality and his own lessons from defeat, hoping to make his mark in a historic battle against Tyson.
