KSI's manager has hit out at the unique rules for Mike Tyson's clash with Jake Paul ahead of their November 15 fight, as the ex-undisputed heavyweight champion steps into the ring for the first time since 2005 at the age of 58.
The health of the Baddest Man on the Planet has been the center of criticism surrounding the bout owing to his age, just seven years back from being legally classed as a senior, as he prepares to take on someone almost 30 years younger.
In light of that, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations ordered the clash can go ahead but only on the conditions that the fighters use 14-ounce gloves and compete for no more than eight rounds, each two minutes in length, when they meet at the AT&T Stadium.
That led to criticism from pros such as Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora and now KSI's manager, Mams Taylor, has added his voice to that list by saying the clash is no more than an exhibition.
"It's ten two-minute rounds. I don't know if they're going to say don't hit each other in the head, like Mike did with Roy Jones," Taylor said to Fred Talks Fighting. "I don't know what the rule set is.
"But it definitely isn't a pro fight because no pro fights for men are two minutes long. They're not in [10-ounce] gloves, so I don't know how it's a pro fight."
Taylor points to Tyson as the draw
If you asked both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson who is the draw of the fight, both will point the finger sharply at themselves and both have evidence to argue their cases although most of the public will be tuning in to watch the 58-year-old.
And that's exactly what Taylor pointed to when he discussed the sales value of the contest, although he hinted it might be too farcical for some fans to even bother turning on the television set to watch an almost-60-year-old fight.
"It's on Netflix," Taylor added, of the fight's box office potential. "Mike Tyson's a massive, massive, massive name.
"One of the biggest names, if not the biggest name, in boxing. However, he's about 60, you know, and it's an exhibition."
