It's normal for professional athletes to say things they don't really mean in the heat of the moment. After a high-stakes boxing fight, it's bound to happen in the ring once the final scorecards are read over the speaker.

Following Oleksandr Usyk's split decision victory over Tyson Fury, the "Gypsy King" said something he'll want to take back.

Tyson Fury blames Ukraine for losing to Oleksandr Usyk

I believe I won that fight. I believe he won a few of the rounds, but I won a majority of them... You know, his country's at war, so people are siding with the country at war. Make no mistake, I won that fight in my opinion, and I'll be back. I've got a rematch clause.

Unsurprisingly, fans on social media immediately called out Fury for the Ukraine comment. One thing is to make a general excuse, but to make one that specific about a situation so delicate leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

It was certainly a close fight, but Usyk finished the final five or so rounds very strong and was a justified winner. To diminish Usyk's performance in that way is a bad look for Fury, who was also showboating a fair amount early on in the fight. Fury definitely didn't earn many new fans tonight.
