George Kambosos Jr may believe he decisively won the fight against Maxi Hughes, but most observers strongly disagree with that assessment. Kambosos secured a majority decision victory over Hughes, but there are serious concerns about the judges' scoring.

David Sutherland's 114-114 scorecard is already questionable, but Gerald Ritter's 115-113 card and Josef Mason's 117-111 in favor of Kambosos are even worse.

In previous fights, Kambosos had experienced close decisions, often with one judge not scoring in his favor. But this time, it was a different situation, with one judge giving him an overwhelmingly dominant victory.

Although considered a veteran judge in of years worked, Mason has limited experience in judging high-level fights, mainly working in his home state of Colorado, which isn't known for its extensive boxing scene.

Maxi Hughes had a chance to achieve a career-changing victory, similar to Kambosos when he defeated Teofimo Lopez in 2020. Unfortunately, despite his belief that he won the fight, the official decision went in Kambosos' favor.

With this win, Kambosos secures an IBF eliminator victory and positions himself for a shot at a world title, vacant or not. However, the controversial scoring of this fight raises serious questions about the need for better oversight and ability in the sport of boxing.
