WNBA All-Star Game takes over Footprint Center
This year, the USA Basketball Women's National Team will face off against a selection of WNBA All-Stars, a format that promises to highlight the best of the league.
Fans can catch the action live on ABC at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT from the Footprint Center, home of the Phoenix Mercury.
The event, already a sellout, will also serve as a send-off for WNBA players heading to the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Additionally, it will feature two days of WNBA-centric activities, including the WNBA 3-Point Contest and the WNBA Skills Challenge on July 19.
The All-Star selection process involved votes from fans, current WNBA players, and a national of sportswriters and broadcasters.
The top 10 vote-getters, who will participate as part of Team WNBA, are Aliyah Boston (Indiana Fever), Caitlin Clark (Indiana), Napheesa Collier (Minnesota Lynx), Kahleah Copper (Phoenix), Dearica Hamby (Los Angeles Sparks), Sabrina Ionescu (New York Liberty), Arike Ogunbowale (Dallas Wings), Breanna Stewart (New York), A'ja Wilson (Las Vegas Aces), and Jackie Young (Las Vegas).
ing them are eight additional players selected by WNBA head coaches, including DeWanna Bonner (Connecticut Sun), Allisha Gray (Atlanta Dream), Brionna Jones (Connecticut), Jonquel Jones (New York), Kayla McBride (Minnesota), Kelsey Mitchell (Indiana), Nneka Ogwumike (Seattle Storm), and Angel Reese (Chicago Sky).
Notably, Clark and Reese, despite their rivalry, will be playing alongside each other for Team WNBA.
Their participation, along with the unprecedented popularity of the WNBA this year, is expected to draw significant attention to the game.
The U.S. Women's National Team, boasting stars like Brittney Griner (Phoenix), Chelsea Gray (Las Vegas), and Diana Taurasi (Phoenix), will offer a formidable challenge to Team WNBA.
This marks the second time the All-Star Game will feature the USA Basketball Women's National Team vs. Team WNBA format.
In 2021, Arike Ogunbowale led Team WNBA to a 93-85 victory over the national team and was named MVP.
In addition to the on-court action, Phoenix will host the third annual WNBA Live presented by U.S. Bank, a fan festival celebrating the intersection of the WNBA, fashion, music, and culture, from July 19-20 at the Phoenix Convention Center.
