It should have been Deandre Ayton's night to play at home again after overcoming a knee injury, but the weather got in the way. The Portland Trail Blazers center missed the game against the Brooklyn Nets when he couldn't make it to the arena. He was prevented by a layer of ice in his neighborhood.
According to the Portland press, the player tried to leave his house for hours. When he found it difficult to do so, he ed franchise personnel, who sent workers to help him. They didn't succeed either, so Ayton missed the game for an unsuspected reason.
The Blazers managed without him, who until his injury was averaging 13.1 points and 10.8 rebounds.
They won 105-103 on a last-second basket by Anfernee Simons and 30 points from Jerami Grant.
Presumably Ayton, if he can get out of the neighborhood, will be available for the next game against the Pacers.
