This has come as a shocker, as nobody expected this to happened and all of a sudden it did. Karl-Anthony Towns is leaving the Minnesota Timberwolves, a franchise in which he had been for almost a decade, and now he will wear the New York Knicks colors.
New York team gave up Donte DiVincenzo and Julius Randle, two key pieces in their roster, in addition to a first-round draft pick that belonged to the Detroit Pistons. This move proves the value of Karl-Anthony Towns but it was a lot to give to many experts.
Interestingly enough, the player might not be thrilled about the trade. He is going to be responsible for a franchise that has struggled for many years and that it seemed to be getting traction as of late, but playing in one of the bigger markets in the nation could take a toll.
His demonstration on social media
At least on his social networks, Karl-Anthony Towns is did not show happiness as he posted a message with some ellipses on his personal X . Last season, he played 62 games in the regular season, all of them as a starter.
He averaged 21.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists, with a three-point percentage of 41.6% and 50% accuracy in field goals. This led to him being selected for the NBA All-Star Game, but many of that was because he was playing alongside Anthony Edwards. Now it will be different.
While Edwards is now Minnesota's main star, he will have two more complementary players who will provide depth but he will also see his numbers diminish if the team doesn't pick up another piece for their roster. Now Karl-Anthony Towns will work with Jalen Brunson, who led the team to the Playoffs.
