Anthony Edwards' response to Charles Barkley after the Timberwolves' victory over the Denver Nuggets, securing their place in the Western Conference Finals, became an instant internet sensation. In the postgame interview, Barkley mentioned that he hadn't visited Minneapolis in about 20 years.
Edwards, with a quick and memorable response, said: "Bring ya ass."
Interestingly, Barkley's memory seemed to fail him, as he was actually in Minneapolis for the NCAA Final Four in 2019.
Edwards' spontaneous remark quickly caught fire on social media and Timberwolves fans were quick to suggest that the team should make "bring ya ass" T-shirts.
In the flurry of online reactions, Food Network star Bobby Flay recommended Spoon and Stable, a James Beard award-winning restaurant. Others ed the conversation with their own recommendations, including Governor Walz, who suggested The Nook in St. Paul and Matt's in Minneapolis.
Shined in the series against Denver
Edwards inspired the Timberwolves to their first Western Conference Finals appearance in 20 years with a stunning 98-90 road win over the defending champions.
"It was tough, man, because I couldn't find myself, my rhythm tonight," Edwards said after the game.
"So I just had to trust my teammates, man. They kept trapping me even though I was off, so I tried to make the right play.
"There's more ways to win a basketball game when you're just not an offensive player, man. I'm not one-dimensional, I'm not just a guy who can score.
"I'm a guy who can go, whoever their best guard is, I can go lock him down. So I feel like I did that on Jamal [Murray] in the third quarter and fourth quarter, and that's what turned the game around."
The Timberwolves will face the Mavericks in their first Western Conference Finals game on Wednesday at the Target Center.
