Tyler Herro tried to explain the reasons for his fight with Amen Thompson but they failed to convince

The Miami Heat and Houston Rockets game on Sunday ended with fireworks, with Amen Thompson and Tyler Herro at the center of matters.

While the Heat ended up winning the game 104-100, the scuffle between the two, which saw Thompson whip Herro to the ground, has made headlines in the hours since.

It all kicked off on an inbounds play with under a minute left in the game. The two bumped into one another before Thompson grabbed Herro by the jersey and dragged him to the ground.

Chaos ensued after that, with Heat guard Terry Rozier going after Thompson and taking him down. More players and coaches came in to break up the scuffle, but that didn't stop Thompson and Herro from continuing their shouting match.

All in all there were six ejections, and after the game, Herro made it clear he wasn't impressed with what Thompson and the Rockets did.

"Just two competitors going at it, playing basketball," Herro initially said via FanDuel Sports Network Sun.

"Just a physical game. I guess that's what happens when someone's scoring, throwing dimes, doing the whole thing. So, I'd get mad too."

He also added: "It was a regular game throughout. Thought we were playing a competitive game, but I have never said a word to him, so I don't know."

Herro gets the last laugh

Herro was the star performer of the game, finishing with 27 points to go along with nine assists and six rebounds.

It was the latest big game from the former Sixth Man of the Year, as he has taken advantage of his move into the starting lineup.

The former Kentucky Wildcat is averaging 24 points a game, which helped him enter the Top 10 in of the MVP race last week.
