It's no secret that Draymond Green is a polarizing figure. He hasn't made it easy for non-Golden State Warriors fans to like him, after all. Green has been suspended several times, for picking up technical and flagrant fouls to even punching his own teammate. He rubs many people the wrong way, but that's also what has made him a great NBA player.
At 35 years old, Green is still contributing heavily to the Warriors, but he has already planted seeds for his post playing career. He hosts a podcast with former NBA point guard Baron Davis, and has made frequent appearances on TNT's basketball broadcast coverage. But a recent controversy has many wondering if he should even be allowed to have a broadcast career once it's all said and done.
Draymond Green's Karl-Anthony Towns controversy could come back to haunt him
Green made an outlandish claim a few days ago, "reporting" that Karl-Anthony Towns sat out the New York Knicks' game against the Warriors because he was avoiding Jimmy Butler. Towns and Butler had clashed while with the Minnesota Timberwolves in the past.
It was later revealed that Towns had missed the game due to a funeral for a close family friend. When told about it at a press conference, Green sent his condolences to Towns, but responded in an odd manner. He claimed he had "heard" differently, before saying his podcast "must go on".
Essentially making up a rumor from something he heard - who knows from who - brings into question how credible he could possibly be as an analyst on air. It will be tough for him to get rid of his bad guy stigma even onc ehe retires from playing.
