The Boston Celtics are entering a new era after the franchise agreed to sell the team for a record-breaking $6.1 billion to William Chisholm, managing partner of Symphony Technology Group, but that doesn't mean he would take over the team today.

Chisholm would need to be approved by the NBA's Board of Governors before he can officially buy the team. Once that happens, Chisholm would own the team as soon as the deal goes through but he won't immediately take over as the Cletics CEO and governor.
